Ryan Faulkner-Hogg Atlas Geographica

Greetings! I Am Ryan & This Is My Website.

Welcome to Atlas Geographica.

This website is for anyone who, like me, has a massive curiosity to understand the world.

Housed here on this website is all my writing, podcasts, and the launch pad for personal ventures.

As an extension of my developing worldview, Atlas Geographica is where these experiences will be documented over time.

It all started in January 2020 when I discovered Nassim Taleb. His ideas had such an influence on me that his lessons from the Incerto have gone on to inform and influence much of how I think about the world. These initial articles were further extended into the biggest podcast on Nassim Taleb & The Incerto on the internet.

After my distillation of Nassim was complete, I found I enjoyed the writing process so much that from there it would become the medium through which I would tackle new ideas and interests that come into my life. I am sure, since you have after all stumbled across these pixelated words that it is likely we share an interest or two in common.

I went on to write about the animal abuse of both Elephants and Tigers in Asia. I attempted a surmised introduction to the ideas of Carl Jung. I compiled a Food Waste Manifesto. Tried my hand in an ongoing look into geopolitics. Have managed to interview some extraordinary people doing extraordinary things, and I am documenting it all via a bi-annual review.

There are now over +100 articles I have published on this website and so filing everything neatly away in order for it to be easy to navigate for you has become quite the difficult challenge. USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION 🔎 TO FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!

BTW – if you are ever in Stockholm and want to get a coffee or a beer and talk about something interesting… contact me 🙂

Atlas Geographica-ism’s

As words started to significantly accumulate throughout the pages of this website I found myself referring to constant truisms specific to somewhere but applicable everywhere.

  • Big Stupid Numbers: It’s impossible for us to conceptualise something in the billions that we consume by the dozen.
  • Predictions: If your prediction of the future is correct… you got lucky. How can we think about a future of infinite possibilities based on a finite experience of the past?
  • Survivorship Bias is everywhere.
  • Incentives, Incentives, Incentives. “Show me the incentives, and I will show you the outcome” – Charlie Munger

Every month (or couple of weeks) I write a short, popular email.

In it you will have your worldview expanded upon. It will either challenge your beliefs or open your eyes to something new. Never boring. Sometimes will include things you don’t want to see. Sometimes it will be exactly what you were looking for.

It is free and the best thing you can do for me. If you are keen, chuck your email in below and then CHECK YOUR SPAM!
